If you couldn't guess, my in-game username is ryandodd. I first started playing Blocktopia sometime in 2011 with Zombie Survival. That was an on-and-off relationship; I'd randomly revisit it over months/weeks. Eventually, I stopped coming back because I'd found another server and had been promoted to Co-Owner on it.
This all changed in August 2012 when I switched internet providers to one with unlimited data. I was previously limited to 5GB/month so I couldn't really be on Minecraft much and still have allowance for other internet things, but now I was unlimited. I searched for Blocktopia servers and saw something interesting - TNT Wars. I joined and bam!, I was in love with this community. A few days before JtE was released, I bought premium Minecraft. This changed quite a bit but I still loved TNT Wars.
I joyfully played TNT Wars for several months before being promoted to Trusted on February 26, 2013. Soon after I was promoted, news of Premium TNT came my way. It was actually a really good time to become staff because I got to experience CTNT and the tester version of PTNT. I was very sad when CTNT closed but was also hopeful; I realized that there were many more possibilities with a Premium version of TNT wars. When PTNT first opened, the server was full of players and I was content. And then came the activity drop.
Back at JtE, I'd started on my town, Wisteria. Me and Terre936 built it together and continuously improved it. Sometime during the summer, it became an official town and I became an Aristocrat. Around a month later, it became the 6th city of JtE (beaten out of 5th by a mere two minutes). Over the upcoming few weeks, we improved and improved Wisteria. Eventually, the member count was higher than that of Sancti's (excluding all of their little satellites).
On September 7, 2013 I was promoted to Operator on TNT Wars. I loved it. I now had many more abilities than I did as a Trusted. My new abilities weren't used to their full potential though because of the lack of players.
Now, I'm faced with TNT Wars closing tomorrow and a new SMP coming soon. I don't know where that leaves me. I guess I'll stick around on AoD until the new TNT Wars is up and potentially play on the new SMP. I was wanting something longer, but this is it. This is the story of how I joined and became addicted to Blocktopia.
