What about an Amplified server or event?

Do you want this to happen eventually?

Would it be possible if a Blocktopia were able to make a amplified minecraft server eventually? I've played it in single player and I think it's fun, and I think it would be even more if there were a server. Just want to know if anyone else thinks this too.

If I've posted this in the wrong spot, sorry this is my first thread. :p

I am going to see several problems arise for an Amplified world...

#1 You need a very powerful computer to even run a Amplified world, this is due to the amount of RAM it required to generate one, let alone play on one

#2 This would be highly unfair to the lower end PC gamers, they would be unable to play on the server unless there is a special plugin that the server has to reduce the lag a lot

I guess it also would be very reasource heavy for the server itself, and create lag on that side too :l

I have a crappy computer and played "AMPLIFIED" world type on single player and guess what? It didn't lag me o.o. Maybe I don't have a crappy computer :D

My friend SalientGorilla gets average FPS on amplified, but I get around 12. It all depends on your definition of "crappy". Your crappy may be able to handle games such as minecraft, however my version of crappy can barely handle minecraft -- I rarely get above 20 fps on normal minecraft in 1.6.2, 1.7 leaves me with 15 and the amplified worlds leave me with 12 and below, so an event server like this would be one that I and many others would not be able to attend.

Seems a tad silly to have a server that excludes a large percentage of the community (like me) who don't have a decent enough computer to handle Amplified. Also I think maybe focusing on getting DoD up and TNT back should be the main focus right now, but maybe some time in the future :)

With my computer, I usually get ~10 fps without Optfine. With Optifine, I usually get 10~30 fps, depending on how many block updates I get.

But, recently with the addition of 1.7.2, I get around 10~30 fps as well, but with some minor lag spikes here and there. I just want Optifine to minimize those lag spikes, get rid of the fog, and have the option to zoon. ;~;

Someone hasn't checked the mods recently.

All mods will not be updating until around late December or early January, due to the fact that all core mods can't, or won't update until then. I don't know the reasons, or the details, but that's what I've heard from all the mod creators.

So... No Optifine until then. :<

Mod creators need MCP to update, and right now it isn't 1.7 and isn't going to be for a bit. I can barely play MC on my main computer without Optifine so I wish it could update quicker too. :(

Thanks for the clarification. xP

Yeah, Optifine would definitely help out tons. 1.7 did great in terms of optimization, but Optifine would still help out loads. :<

But if that's the case, then why was it easier for mod developers to update to 1.5 or Beta 1.8 then it was with this? I mean Jesus, Late December to Early January? why?

Because there is more content and updates, code that has been re-written than those updates, if you read the full update list of 1.7.2 you will see why.
