Rank Requested: Controller

Current/previous positions held: I was a staff member on the original SMP since early February. I was hand-picked to be a Trusted and quickly ascended to Controller - the first known server-specific Controller role too - in the space of 2 months. I then maintained that position all the way through to the end of Primordia. Right now, I am currently serving as an operator for Army of Darkness.

List what you believe your greatest strengths are:
My greatest strength, which I have understood throughout my time here, is my people skills. Sometimes, even the Blocktopia premium servers would bring in some rather dense characters, and while most staff I've seen would either ignore them or approach them harshly, I'd be fair and approach everything in a calm, collective and professional manner.

Another key strength in regards to SMP is being able to connect with people and provide simple yet functional content. I have a track record in particular for travel systems on past maps, which have gone as far as starting with canal passages in SMP1 and extended to elaborate railway systems by the time SMP3 was working. With a more back-to-basics system like what the new SMP server will provide, I will be happy to use the time to benefit the server while still keeping things aesthetically pleasing.

In addition, I was on hand to make the job of the HCs much less daunting by doing everything I can to help them out. With The Phantom, I was on hand to help him with his concepts for the Spawn area for the SMP2 map and focused everything I could on safety at the forums, including closing applications upon passing/failing and closing any unlocked ban appeals after judgment has been made. This was extended further when MindCrafty head-controlled it alone and I threw myself into helping physically set up new features under his guidance and even giving him some pointers for when he couldn't remember things (like MC block numbers for instance :p), not to mention one of the things I enjoyed doing the most - reading the server news on some Friday meetings (which I really missed since Primordia came to a close). And even through Primordia I managed to maintain my capabilities and even launched a snowman building event for the Christmas season, as a means to add some activity during that period of time.

No matter what task I'm given, I am easily open to criticism and will learn from everything I do. And I stated it in my old Miner application for SMP1 - I will never form grudges with anyone.

List what you believe your greatest weaknesses are:
If there's one thing that's pretty much ensuring me that I can't get a Head Controller position, it's most likely my emotional side. That can serve as a double edged sword - get to know me, and I can be one of the happiest and most optimistic people in the community. But if something goes wrong, that's where the doubts kick in. I control it most of the time by logging off for a while just to cool off, and that to me has been a big help in not bringing feelings too far out into the open.

Teamspeak?: Yes
Microphone?: Yes
Previous Offences?: Nothing

What you believe your position entails?:
The Controller is on hand to look out for the server when the HC(s) isn't/aren't online. They don't make all the server's major decisions, but they still do listen to what people have to say and make sure the admins are notified. In-game they had the power to unban people on the servers themselves, use the Bukkit tools responsibly (re: the railroads), spawn items in the event of theft and hide when watching the playerbase (which I understand isn't functional now), though they have to be responsible by using them if they are to avoid a dishonorable demotion. They are a neutral party, which leaves them to handle the playerbase in a tactful manner no matter what kind of problem arises. They also have the power to moderate the SMP sub-forums as well, meaning they would get to attend to any trouble appearing in the main conversations, move closed ban appeals/applications, and generally keep the non-staffroom sub-forums nice and clean. ;) And in addition, they are on hand to help the lower ranked staff as they play the game and progress through the ranks. I'm so proud of so many of the staff that stuck around and became what they are today within the community.

In less than 20 words, summarise yourself:

British girl gamer,
Hobby musician as well,
Creative person.

Peaceful specimen,
Gets along with everyone,
Won't let people down.

(Please excuse the Haiku.)
