You didn't think that post I made on the Solitude ideas thread was it, did you? I mean, I only barely touched on the whole post deletions thing and even that was as a plea to not delete the perfectly on-topic post again.
Needless to say, I'll be more than touching on that subject in this thread. I'd go for a more explicit picture but I don't think parquette would like that very much.
(to vatu/psycho: please don't delete this, like, seriously, i beg of you; it breaks precisely zero rules, i get to make the topic so it's perfectly on-topic and i promise, this is not a joke nor a meme, so please no triggerings and deletings)
Two things I want to rant about:
1) do you people have no comprehension of what a joke is
and
2) we literally had a whole discussion about stupid post deletions why are you still doing it
First things first, the thing I want to be absolutely clear about is: when I say shit like this,
"But Ender, why does it matter? It's a shitty joke and I'm offended by it!"
I concede both points to you. Mostly because they're both subjective. And irrelevant. If I make a joke and you decide you're offended by it for whatever reason, that's on you. I didn't mean for it to be offensive and it's not as obviously offensive as me saying "gas the jews", either. It's just a matter of interpretation and that's entirely your part, not mine.
Now, the part that really tickles my funny bone is the one where Major_Bryan waltzes along and says that my behaviour is inappropriate for a staff member and that I'm toxic because of it. No, dear ex-admin, the thing that's toxic to this community is the fact that every time someone makes a joke, tries to lighten the mood, tries to get some laughs out of people, some self-entitled (ex)staff with an incurable holier-than-thou attitude comes along and says I'm an asshole for making a joke that's so inconsiderate and immature and whatnot.
Every single time there has been conflict between you and me it has been because someone made a joke and then you just had to zone in on it with your trigger-radar and come and poop right in the middle of the party. And sure, I could accept that my joke was pretty bad as well and all and move on, which is what I try to do, but then you decide that just pooping isn't good enough, you have to throw it in our faces as well.
Just drop your dislike if it's so bad and spare me the further drama, I haven't broken any rules.
BUT WAIT
There's more!
Not only do they jump at my throat for doing nothing wrong, really, they also delete the posts they find to be off-topic or just stupid. Again, I won't argue them being off-topic or stupid, because, again, this is entirely irrelevant. There are zero rules against off-topic or stupid posts and they don't need to be moderated in any way, or if they should, then for the love of god, make it clear in the rules.
So basically, the real reason that my posts (and Aqua's, which afaik wasn't even off-topic) were deleted was because Vatumok just didn't like them.
Seriously?
After we had this... and this... and this...?
After Aqua started whining about it on mod chat, there was a positively surprising amount of staff members supporting him and saying that Vatu might have gone overboard a bit. It wasn't even that hostile, it was just saying that "maybe consider more carefully the next time". The result was, of course, eternal salt, but that was expected.
Vatu, and everyone else who thinks silent deletions are the way to go when moderating a forum: they really aren't.
First of all, you don't moderate things just because you don't like them. No rules were broken, you had no grounds to delete.
Secondly, even if you still decide to moderate, you don't delete, because you have a variety of other options available to you, such as, but probably not limited to: an unofficial warning, an official warning, an edit, a post detailing why I shouldn't do the things you don't like without deleting it, a private message detailing why I shouldn't do the things you don't like. All these options are more proportional to whatever damage you think was done and also have the advantage of not making you look like a salty dictator as well.
Thirdly, even if you still decide to delete, why the hell do you have to do it silently? Like, I'd appreciate a notification or a reason for my post being deleted. It doesn't make you look less a dictator, but it does make you look less a cunt. Not that I'm saying that you are a cunt, that would be a personal attack.
And then you wonder why other staff don't agree with you. You really could take their advice, that way we wouldn't have the "staff aboose, the vatumoose is loose aboot the hoose saying shoosh and the posts go woosh" situations popping up all the time.
To be fair, I'm not even staff any more, so why should my opinion matter? I'm only one pesky little memer that never says anything of value. Never mind that this has been brought up countless times before and this whole thing is supposed to be community-driven. You can all just go along the same route of shadow demotions and silent deletions. Ain't nobody gonna fuck with your perfect little community.

it's a joke. Vatumok understood this, so you have no excuse there.the zero players thing really adds to the atmosphere tbh, good job with that
