Jack reaches the pile of debris just in time, the zombies spot him and make a rush at him, however the pile of debris does give Jack the advantage. Jack quickly disposes of the first two zombies who try to climb the debris with his sword, laying open the head of one and decapitating the other. However the third zombie has moved round the pile of debris and has flanked Jack, without room to swing his sword Jack pulls out his knife and shoves it square in the zombie's head. "Gah, disgusting creatures!" He jumps off the pile of debris, only to spot in the distance three men in the middle fo the street. "Wha? Who are they? Why would they be standing in the middle of the street like that anyway?" In saying so Jack quickly rushes to the alley behind the apartment block right next to him and wraps himself in his cloak to prevent detection. "I don't know who they are, I may just follow them for now and determine whether I can trust them or not."

OCC: an ending eventually but for now we should just keep up with the story i think.

Jack notices the tallest one looking around in his direction, however the cloak he wears aids in his undetection.
'9 times out of times 10 people don't see what they aren't looking for,' he mused to himself.

Me looks down the alley next to the apartment.
"It looks suspicious down here. "
I start to walk down the ally very slowly, ax in hand. Then I spot something that doesn't look quite right.
*Knodges the are with the back of my ax*
To my surprise it comes to life as a human emerges.

"Damn it" Jack rolls away from his discoverer and draws his sword pointing and wavering the tip to mesmerise his foe. Although upon a glance he realises it is one of the survivors he saw, small with brown hair, it puts Jack slightly off balance and he asks the question somewhat suprisedly "who are you?"

OCC: Mind if I join? And do you mind if I put a slight sci-fi twist in? (not a huge one, just genetic engineering n' stuff)
EDIT: just to clarify, only to introduce my character and provide a possible explanation for the apocalypse.
OOC: You are free to join the story, but as it is not YOUR rp, I would say just follow the standards that have been given.

"Mine is Jack, Jack Roberts". Quickly Jack realises that this was going to get ugly fast, both weapons had their advantage but if the fight went on long enough the axe would win out by the sheer weight of it raining down upon him. Deciding that a more peaceful aproach is needed Jack sheathe's his sword in a gesture of peace. "I mean you no harm, I saw you and wanted to avoid an intial conflict like this."

In her search for supplies around the apartment flat a second time, Hika couldn't find very much anything useful. She did find some spare Duracell batteries, most likely dead, but pocketed them anyway. She could use them in a trade, if she finds any sort of life that doesn't plan on sticking in groups-- or, even as a distraction.

She walked back to the sofa, but before she could sit down, she suddenly slipped and fell onto the sofa, pushing it back against the door some more, along with all the other items for the barricade; making quite a lot of noise.

"... Crap," she cursed at herself, as she looked at the clothes lying on the floor, "this'll definitely hurt me in the end..."

She stood up, grabbing her bag, and making sure she had everything in order.

"Well, one thing's for sure..." She moved the sofa, peering into the eyehole, for any movement outside the door, in the hallway. She opened up the door, muttering to herself, "If anyone heard me... They'll be here soon."

She stepped out into the hallway, closing the door slowly and softly behind her. She planned on finding something to keep her warm in this rain at least, before striding off in the middle of this storm. She attempted to open the flat door in front of the apartment she came from, but it was locked. She didn't plan on making too much noise, as she didn't really want to bring the zombies attention to her little haven.

She began to check the other flats, finding they were all locked. She then remembered the first floor, containing the keys, behind the counter. She headed downstairs, in hopes of finding the keys.
Incognito suddenly hears a tremendous amount of noise that came from the building in front of his.

"What the hell was that?" He mumbles to himself.

He goes outside his apartment and goes to the other building. While he reaches the door, he hears someone going down stairs, taking out his commando knife, before striking he burns a match and throws it in the building to see if it may be another human life form.

...A half-eaten can of dried beef...
I just looked at that rusty can with disdain...
I knew there probably wouldn't be much inside old store with its broken-down and rusted shelves, but I had hoped for at least something of worth... Just not this...
I sighed and was just about to slip the can into a pocket of my backpack when a loud, grinding noise reached my ears from the floor below. I had jumped with a start.

"What the hell..." I swore under my breath, racing out back into the open.
I kneeled before my make-shift grappling hook that was lodged in the broken concrete, pulling up the dangling rope I had left behind and wrapping it around my shoulder, wielding the pick in my right hand; I was rushing.
"Who, or what was that..." I gasped out as I leaned out against the railing, of the apartment flat, looking to find both the source of the screeching noise, and for a stairway down.

That was my first mistake.

A figure, bathed in white, but shadowed by the darkness of the looming structure was directly below me, wielding what looked like a gun, at least, from my perspective it appeared so.
I sneered, and fell back against the cold, rock wall, hoping he had not seen my figure darting back into the safety of the shadows.
It was rare, but I had panicked.

That was my second mistake.

I ran. I didn't know where I was going, but I knew I had to get out of there, and fast.
The only way out was down...
Straight through that man.
A one on one encounter.
I doubled my pace as I ran down the rocky staircase... Downwards...

What I didn't expect, was yet another.
I ran straight into a small figure...

A figure donned in purple...

That, I would soon find--- Was not a mistake.
Looking behind the counter, she had successfully found a key. She didn't know which door it was for, though, as its label had been peeled off. She clenched it in her fist, then put it into her left jacket pocket.

Before she could head back upstairs, she suddenly found someone rushing down the stairs...

A person, who had looked to be a young man, dashing.

Hika didn't quite know what to do. All she did was stay still, staring at the man on the stairs, unaware of what was about to happen next.

Nothing was going according to plan.
A simple reconnaissance mission, and nothing more.
I was supposed to be in, and out of that apartment flat quickly, and quietly. I just couldn't afford another wasted minute...
My supplies were just too low...
And yet... A voice in the back of my mind; that simple voice of humanity, was whispering its soft melody.

With a face hidden in shadow by the light of my hood, my identity shielded,
I had brandished my old pickaxe in my right hand.
I had taken a step toward the young girl.
"Who are you, and what are you doing here." I scowled.
However, the girl seemed incapable of speech, standing still, an expression as pale as that of a ghost.
I clenched my fist in frustration at the situation.

And yet again, my plans would seemingly change for the worse; at least, in that single, initial spark.
A terrible gunshot ran out across, what felt like miles of the desolate city; a shockwave of echos showing just how truly pitiful this ruin of civilization had truly become...

I swore under my breath...
Whoever had used that pistol must have been out to kill us, known we had been there, it was all a set-up;
For with that single gunshot... I knew we would soon be swarmed by the marauding hordes of Walkers from the streets below.

Before I took my action, I started deeply into the young girls eyes; a mix of fear and emotion could be seen in her face.
"She seems lost, and scared. She probably won't be as dangerous as that other man, whom I had seen running back into the distance toward another roll of apartments; I could take her down..."
I shook my head. "She seems unarmed," I had told myself.
I was torn; and yet, I knew time was running short.

Darting toward the girl, I yelled,
"THIS WAY!."
I gripped the girls wrist and ran back up into the stairwell.
My Destination: The top apartment of that block.
The building was not safe any longer
... But at least on the upper floors, no Walker could make it up the stairwell;
and whoever who had fired that shot, or any other bandit or survivor, would not find us.
I ran, dragging her behind me.

I didn't know what to expect from this girl.
I didn't quite know myself what I was doing.
However,my destiny was somehow intertwined with that girls in that single, crucial moment.
I didn't know...
In fact.
I would never know... What was in store...
In this Apocalyptic future.

It's time... *Opens the door and trips, falls down seven stairs on the end of his gun. The gun shoots accidently because it landed on the trigger and penetrates my bones, I lie on the ground bleeding to death when a piece of rubble from the roof falls on my head. I am ded*

(I can't play here anymore because I'm way too busy)

OCC: OH LOOK I WOKE UP.

I awake to see 3 other faces. One by the name of Bill, Richard and Jack. I wave and say hi... I don't know whether to be happy or scared to see other survivors. I think to myself there MUST be more in the city just... alone. Or maybe they have formed groups too. I can't help but think of my family, back in England, have they survived? Has the infection even reached them yet? Ergh... Too many thoughts and emotions whizz throughout my brain, like a whirlpool if anything.

I feel faint... My vision is getting blurry... I can't die like th-.. *faints*

OCC: Yes, faint not die. I will awake when I have the time to post again x3

After Hika met the young man, he sneered at her with an angry voice. "Who are you, and what are you doing here!?"

She continued to stand there, unknowing of what to do. Suddenly, to make matters worse, there was a sudden gunshot coming from outside the building.

"Dammit..." The man swore under his breath, knowing the fate of staying in the open. He grabbed Hika, leading her upstairs. "This way!"

She still seemed clueless of the situation, but now a little less afraid. The man didn't attempt to kill her, unlike the previous survivors she had seen who had instantly killed other people.

As they raced up the stairs, they soon reached what seemed to be the top floor of the building. The man, continuing to drag Hika with him, rushed into the room and then securely blocked the door.

She tried to process the situation: the man's arrival, a gunshot, suddenly upstairs. She needed to say her thanks, but couldn't bring herself to speak. She cleared her throat, sighed, then looked at the man.

"Thank you." Her voice was clear at first, but weakened as she spoke. That seemed to be all she could say at that moment.

But, she still doesn't know this man. She was still afraid, but knew that he was probably not going to kill her; at least, she hoped he wasn't going to.

Don’t worry guys, I’m not creating a super-character or anything.
Intro (in the past):
Fear…pain…I wake in a semi-comatose haze. I blink and everything thing suddenly zooms into perspective. I note the machines I am hooked to, the tubes in my arms. I take in the man looming above me, masked face, black gloves, brown cloak.... “Ah yes, you are awake,” he says. His voice seems to be coming through a long tunnel. “In the past years, humanity has utterly ravaged the planet. Natural resources have been destroyed, the environment decimated. In order for the planet to survive, civilization as we know it must be destroyed. There will be an apocalypse. You will survive it. You were designed faster, stronger, smarter, than an average human.” A machine starts beeping and I feel a cold liquid seeping into my arm. As I lose consciousness he bends over and whispers in my ear, “You are the future of humanity.”
