You're being lazy, not even giving it a try.

The thing i'm seeing you all saying is that the playerbase will be weak. Classic got less of a playerbase due to problems and classic all-round. Premium zombies has potential, and you're letting it go to waste.

Now, look at the poll. From when i looked, more people support PZ then not. But the fact is 13 or 14 didn't.

In comparison, I don't really support solitude, but it's gonna happen anyway. Now i disagree on 'can't break blocks quickly' So? How about a plugin? If you cant find it, what about coding one. I know you cant code in a minute, but it can be done. I suggest we have the creative inventory, but on survival so we can have all the blocks. I dont mean tools, TNT, spawn eggs, cobwebs, lava etc etc but you can have them in the inventory but not able to place. About the tools... I'm not sure. However, i dont know if this is possible, but i suggest you try.

I support premium zombies. It will work, and we can attract new players. I hate how negative some of you are being.
For block breaking I only found a way to use one item stone, fist etc. and it breaks twice as fast as classic but Chill and Mike could have found/coded something already.

The only problems that were run into at the end was the java error where when you tried to break a block the game menu would pop up then there was the stats refresh and the skin error. We are not going to release it right away. Wait until Solitude dies down. So, you complain about the server resembling classic then you mention TNT which decided to use premium technology. Zombie is a game of simple gameplay nothing complicated and would be comparable to RoF that uses blocks to make a house against lava and RoF is the has the most players online 90% of the time. Also, AoD has the 2nd highest players for the last 1-2 months and should continue to do fine. One player is not going to sit around and only play one server. I would play AoD and Zombies still, I wouldn't be like oh they are the same I wouldn't go on. I would get off zombie and be like Im in the mood for PvP and go on AoD. There is enough support for both servers.
You know, it's kind of funny that PTNT got pulled out of the hat, instead of a PZS, since the entire CTNT gameplay is based around breaking/placing blocks. At some points it was literally unplayable due to the game menu glitch. Somehow this was ignored, while PTNT was fabricated, with literally no push required for the majority of the community. It also has the same 'problems.' It really isn't as fun unless enough people are on (the primary reason its empty half the time, people, don't bag on this one server because of it, RoF is exactly the same, thing is, player numbers rarely drop low enough for that to happen (but I've seen it happen))
As for a PVS sapping AoD's playerbase, keep in mind that AoD is massively different to Zombie, even TAG mode. AoD features health, hitrange, hunger, items, fall damage, unlimited block pacing/breakage for Hunters (usually), no editing for Survivors (again, usually), and most importantly, Survivors can fight back. Something I, personally love doing on AoD is running. But alas, this many an epic run are ruined by bows, hit ranges, mobs and hunger. (Also, TAG is ridiculously different too. A big point here is Speed II for Survivors).

Also, concerning the whole 'Classic clone = boring' argument, surely you can see that so much can be done with this. They've already worked incredibly hard to get it where it's at now. I mean, amazing maps could be made with this. The though of Cubism or Smarqueris or Abyss using PZS seems like a ton of fun. Status effects could be wound in to make it more adaptable. Obviously tons can be done with this shit.
Lastly, concerning the playerbase, surely it wouldn't take long for word of a Premium Zombie Survival to be spread, and forget not the huge number of ZS clones created in the wake of BT's ZS's success. Despite many gravitating towards MineManiacs, many players who loved the Classic servers will surely be at least curious to see what this new rendition is all about, if not staying for the night and hooking up with some of the other servers too.
(Also keeping in mind that this is almost pure custom coding; the plugins aren't just floating around out there for anyone to rip off)

Now that you've completely skimmed over this, decide if you're for or against this idea, toss your cerebrum into a corner and take a leap from the other side what are the pros, pessimists? What are the cons, optimists?

Also, dear Admins, you can see that every time this idea has been resurrected, it has been done so that it is different and more refined each time. After all the effort they've invested into this dream of theirs, surely it deserves at least a trial event or something?

PFFFT. Time, time and time. Just wait. AoD is getting better and better.
AoD has over year now. Classic ZS had 3 years, when it got closed.
Classic Zombie almost didn't changed for me, when it was up (well new maps and gamemodes, that I rarely saw).
I'll bet AoD will change A LOT in next two years.
For me AoD is something like PZombie, just adapt to it.

When CTNT was closed and PTNT opened, I noticed lack of pistols, so I started to use mines.
In Classic ZS when I saw zombie running at me and had no escape, I wished I could defend myself or to find where humans could be.

Zombie had a completely new rotation every 2-3 weeks. If you could call map types gamemodes there were runner/hide maps along with secrets. AoD got a tag mode that most player dislike? AoD is a kit-pvp server zombie is a hide/run server.

Why should they of changed it if had mojang not of ruined classic, that server would still likely be full to this day? I guess it's just a preference

Well, TAG is actually gaining popularity, just like everything else (why can't PZS?). It's way, way, different to Zombies, though (in an utterly amazing way <3 )

I meant change as in features XD
Also Minecraft itself also is changing with every new version.

I meant powerpill mode, as in few larger features, that appeared in Classic ZS for 2 years.

Besides tag AoD has more features how?
Let see... all vanilla MC features since Classic, spreadsheet, pressing TAB shows how many times players killed someone during round, buyable towers, /glist command, so you can see who is playing on other servers, and constant updates to both MC and server plugins, and some more that I forgot - oh nice lobby too.

You can easily implement scoreboards into premium zombie. /glist is not an AoD feature it is a blocktopia feature and can be easily added. A nice lobby... so when we make zombies we will make a bad lobby? Towers is part of gameplay for AoD. Our plugins have to be updated as well.

This isn't Classic Zombies. Classic died. This is PZS
Classic Zombie isn't an accurate representation of what this could become, so don't use it to beat them down. These people have put in phenomenal amounts of effort into this, you people are taking a spoonful of dirt and using the excess energy to type something negative. The least they deserve is respect for their efforts, as does everyone. Stay classy.
Classic Zombie is the baseplate for PZS. PZS is building off what Zombie was and using a Backflip of AmazitudeTM on it.

Classic has too many issues and this whole thread is about the possibility of a premium zombie server.

EDIT: Jivvi you ninja

EDIT: It's almost 4 AM so I am going to stop posting a for a while. Remember to respect peoples opinions there is no need to tell someone that their opinion is stupid. With that being said let the discussion continue!

Problems:

My favourite part about Classic Zombie Survival was the freedom offered. There was no time limit to building. This opened up many different possibilities, like hiding, etc. AoD's rules guide the player towards running, occasionally forcing them to run. That brings me to another point. running in AoD sucks. It isn't the same with long ranged attacks from hunters.

Classic Zombie's 'signature' map was probably nobuild128, a fast paced, challenging map. Surviving was something that gave you unlimited bragging rights. Classic zombie was much harder than AoD, which added to the thrill of running from a zombie. This isn't the case on AoD.

One time humans created a stairway and camped there with bows. That essentially ruined the round and they won.

(My) Solution:

A common round type similar to tag. However, this round type should be a near port of Classic Zombies. If this isn't possible, more round types on AoD would greatly benefit the server - variation is a wonderful thing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the end, it's /really/ the decision of donors and the community. If there aren't enough donations, a server must go. Simple as that.
All these ideas are fantastic, and as someone said, every time this topic reopens, it's becoming more refined each time. Sadly, I kind of feel like this is a lost cause, at least for now, anyway. I don't want to be pessimistic or sound like a quitter/dejected, but as Malc said earlier, it was a "firm no". Since the Admins are clearly against this idea now, I can't see this coming to fruition, as disappointed as I am. I'm not against expressing ideas, but I'm trying to avoid getting my hopes up after reading all these awesome ideas.
Something interesting I've noticed is that 99% of the people who are very strongly against this were never regular CZS players in the final year of its running anyway.
You would think that an ex-operator would be all for a premium version of his beloved classic server but sadly I don't feel like I would play this even if it was made. A lot of us can't adjust to premium (I saw that hoe commenting on me in that pastebin 35) which is what drew us to classic and what subsequently kept us there even after the Blocktopia classic shutdown. I just can't imagine running away from zombies to be as rewarding on premium or as fun. For a classic player like myself, I find premium to be slow and clunky, and I don't think that a premium version of zombies will meet the same lengths as the classic version did.
So don't mind me while I slither back to the ol' classic zombie survivals that I know and love.
I'm still all for going with this idea at a later date.
because ever since classic server shutdowns, I only come by Classic occasionally for the nostalgia of Scottish Kilt. To me, a premium Blocktopia Zombie server is better than no Zombie server at all. I wasn't a regular, but hey, at least I had fun!
I've read your points, and here's my response:
1. Sprinting and jumping is possibly even better than just running, it makes for more fast paced gameplay, more interesting jumps and play options. Why do you want to take it out?
2. Infection, you get killed and you die. If you think there's no "outwitting" to AoD I ask you to play on the server. Novelty is not a reason to revive a dead thing.
3. I think that both breaking blocks instantly and having a pickaxe to break stone is a good idea, both have different gameplay, I think that AoD's is better though. (And more fair ^_^)
4. Why would we EVER run these two servers side by side? They're near identical other than the better gameplay in AoD
There is a reason why I don't like RoF/AoD/PTNT, the so called 'upgraded' version of the classic servers. It's because I played classic for its simplicity - something you can't find in any of those servers.
That would be just.... words can't describe.... and the way you said it......
Anyways that whole post actually does bring up a lot of very good points. And there is still other features that can still be worked in. (Can't think of any right now/not going into that just yet, but I might later)
Also, just to clarify, in my post earlier, I was just trying to look at it from the other side. but like Lizzy said, if there is any chance it will work, I'm all for it.
And I really think it does deserve a test run. Not right now per say, but I think if you worked on it a little, add some things to bring in more premium aspects, without changing the game play too much.
Please remember that a test server would not benefit any need to make a decision, those tend to skewer results due to everyone flocking to it. It was never a case of "if we add it, will people play it?" but "What long term boosts would it give us?"
Short term boosts aren't what we worried about with the concept, long term boosts were.
Lily97 you're in the mindset I would like to see overall with the concept. Thank you greatly.
This is what I was thinking when I went to make my original first post (but never made it, couldn't find the right words.) I personally want to see a test run to see how some of the new aspects work in the server (which I really hope you guys work on), how people think of the server itself. I know one of the main ideas of a test run is to see if it will have a sustainable amount of players on, and if it's worth the extra money. Which I completely understand, and that's why it's such a "dangerous" topic. When zombie survival closed, everyone flocked back to it for the last few days, and all I could think to myself was "where were you guys..." And if it comes back now, I'm not sure how people will react to it. Will they play on it for a little while just for the joy of it being back? Will they see that it's out of the dying world classic was in, and has moved to premium, with some new features (hopefully) and pick it up again? And then there's the newer players who never got to see what zombie survival was. Will they see it as outdated? Or will they see it as a fun and unique server?
Also on another topic, with the similarity with Aod stuff, Aod, is, not, that, similar. Aod is pvp, ok, has a similar basic idea, that being 2 teams with one trying to survive the other, but is still different on many aspects.
1) Infection vs PvP: Being able to kill on zombies and Aod takes many different skill aspects.
2&3) Not re-spawning when you die/not dying as a zombie&teaming up: This is actually a major difference. Aod is a more team based server, teaming up and giving hunters a difficult time, or vise-versa. On zombies, as survivors, you can hide together, but the second you see a zombie coming for you, it's all for themselves. Sure zombies can chase down survivors together, but the survivors can't kill the zombies to make them go away, they have to get away from them. (this is 2 in one really)
Ok this wasn't going to be as big of a post as it was but here's one more thing:
You would think that an ex-operator would be all for a premium version of his beloved classic server but sadly I don't feel like I would play this even if it was made. I can completely understand where you are coming from this, and this had not even crossed my mind earlier. For me, I've already adjusted to premium, and I have played on another zombie server a couple of times over the few months that zombies was gone. And quite honestly I couldn't play for as long as I used to be able to for many reasons.
1) I'm done with classic really. And all though this is all about bringing a server that's keeping many classic aspects, I'm still all for it because it's in premium, and in the collapsing classic world anymore.
2) The people. One of the main reasons I liked zombie survival was the people that played on the server. On other servers it's just not the same. Although there are a lot of "blocktopians" that I have seen on other servers. In fact there is actually a blocktopia "clan" on another server. I was talking with them about premium zombies when this was first mentioned, (I was reminded of how I missed zombies and played a little) and they all really seemed to love it.
(Backs away slowly)
