Please remember that a test server would not benefit any need to make a decision, those tend to skewer results due to everyone flocking to it. It was never a case of "if we add it, will people play it?" but "What long term boosts would it give us?"
This is what I was thinking when I went to make my original first post (but never made it, couldn't find the right words.) I personally want to see a test run to see how some of the new aspects work in the server (which I really hope you guys work on), how people think of the server
itself. I know one of the main ideas of a test run is to see if it will have a sustainable amount of players on, and if it's worth the extra money. Which I completely understand, and that's why it's such a "dangerous" topic. When zombie survival closed, everyone flocked back to it for the last few days, and all I could think to myself was "where were you guys..." And if it comes back now, I'm not sure how people will react to it. Will they play on it for a little while just for the joy of it being back? Will they see that it's out of the dying world classic was in, and has moved to premium, with some new features (hopefully) and pick it up again? And then there's the newer players who never got to see what zombie survival was. Will they see it as outdated? Or will they see it as a fun and unique server?
Also on another topic, with the similarity with Aod stuff, Aod, is, not, that, similar. Aod is pvp, ok, has a similar
basic idea, that being 2 teams with one trying to survive the other, but is still different on many aspects.
1) Infection vs PvP: Being able to kill on zombies and Aod takes many different skill aspects.
2&3) Not re-spawning when you die/not dying as a zombie&teaming up: This is actually a major difference. Aod is a more team based server, teaming up and giving hunters a difficult time, or vise-versa. On zombies, as survivors, you can hide together, but the second you see a zombie coming for you, it's all for themselves. Sure zombies can chase down survivors together, but the survivors can't kill the zombies to make them go away, they have to get away from them. (this is 2 in one really)
Ok this wasn't going to be as big of a post as it was but here's one more thing:
You would think that an ex-operator would be all for a premium version of his beloved classic server but sadly I don't feel like I would play this even if it was made. A lot of us can't adjust to premium (I saw that hoe commenting on me in that pastebin 35) which is what drew us to classic and what subsequently kept us there even after the Blocktopia classic shutdown. I just can't imagine running away from zombies to be as rewarding on premium or as fun. For a classic player like myself, I find premium to be slow and clunky, and I don't think that a premium version of zombies will meet the same lengths as the classic version did.
So don't mind me while I slither back to the ol' classic zombie survivals that I know and love.
I can completely understand where you are coming from this, and this had not even crossed my mind earlier. For me, I've already adjusted to premium, and I have played on another zombie server a couple of times over the few months that zombies was gone. And quite honestly I couldn't play for as long as I used to be able to for many reasons.
1) I'm done with classic really. And all though this is all about bringing a server that's keeping many classic aspects, I'm still all for it because it's in premium, and in the collapsing classic world anymore.
2) The people. One of the main reasons I liked zombie survival was the people that played on the server. On other servers it's just not the same. Although there are a lot of "blocktopians" that I have seen on other servers. In fact there is actually a blocktopia "clan" on another server. I was talking with them about premium zombies when this was first mentioned, (I was reminded of how I missed zombies and played a little) and they all really seemed to love it.
(Backs away slowly)
