Endal glanced at the one-armed Light. He had just said he needed a great amount of magical power to perform the thaumaturgic ritual he had described to him. In essence, he was correct, but the wizard was somewhat suspicious of him. If Endal channeled energy from the planet to Light Number 2, as he had started to refer to the conscious Light, then there wasn't really any guarantee that he would use it to do what he said he was.
And then there was the matter of the sacrifice. Thaumatology was a type of magic that required a sacrifice. Whether it was in the form of a pebble or a hundred cows, it didn't matter, although larger or more complex rituals tended to use more power, which meant a larger sacrifice. Ridding Light of the taint using thaumatology would use a large amount of energy, and while he could provide the magic power needed, there still had to be a sacrifice. Endal wasn't sure where they'd get a suitable item or creature for the ritual.
They reached the ritual circle that Number 2 had drawn on the ground earlier. Endal dragged Light in the middle of it and then drew his breath for a moment. "So," the wizard started as he straightened his back, "let's go over the plan again. You mean to get rid of his-" he pointed at Light "-taint, by performing a thaumaturgic ritual, right? I have two questions. First of all, how do I know you're not going to turn on me like he did? If I'm going to channel such amounts of magic energy to you, or even use them myself, I need to know that there is minimal chance of anything going wrong, and you being somewhat untrustworthy isn't exactly low risk. Secondly, I'm sure that you lost your arm when you performed the ritual to transfer your powers and memories over to him, which means you know about the need of a sacrifice. What are we going to use as the sacrifice in this ritual? We can hardly use dirt for it, as I'm sure you've realized."
