"Pr-prosthetics?" The image of the rotting corpse I just spawned recently flashes in my head. However, I might be able to make a working limb if I really sat down and thought hard for a few days. And from the way Cairne says it, it sounds like he might be asking because someone needs it - and if I can be of use to someone, I have to help. I muse on the idea. "I might be able to if I spend some time on it," I respond.
Suddenly, Ross falls from above and lands behind me. I turn around. "Actually, instead of summoning some, why don't we go find some?" he offers. "I'm sure there's some fruit out there someplace or another."
"Sure!" I almost shout, beaming. I'm excited to go on an adventure - it sounds like a much better alternative than just summoning some. "Let's all go look for some." I begin to walk off, but then stop abruptly and look at Ross again, narrowing my eyes. It just occurs to me that if Ross fell from the tree, then he ran and hid when I accidentally summoned a zombie. Even when I cried for help, he didn't come down. Even when I broke and tortured the creature's corpse, he didn't come down. Even when I fell to my knees and bawled, he didn't come down.
I shake my head, warding off the bad thoughts. I shouldn't distrust Ross so much; he's still been nice to me and it doesn't seem like he's a bad person at all. And anyway, I can't expect people to always help me when I want them too.
Still, I subconsciously file the thought in the back of my mind and carry on.
