Guardian of the Nether
Remillia nodded, a little surprised that the phoenix knew stuff like this. Usually, the Guardians were the only ones who knew powerful magic, such as controlling the wind, creating fearsome illusions, maintaining the nether, etc, but it seemed a phoenix who crashed into this planet from outer space had almost the same amount of power as a Guardian... though that power was unconstrained, and that would be the end of this phoenix, she mused.
Though most of the Guardians had forgotten, which was strange, that there were cases in which a Guardian became obsessed with his or her own power, and constantly practiced and used it. This would magically taint that Guardian, and after the Guardian used too much of their magic too frequently, the Guardian would... end in a rather painful way. Their magic would tear out of their body and explode with true destructive force, nearly ending that planet. It was possible for this to happen to any living being, if that living being used too much of their magical energy. Though, most of the poor would-be mages that had ended that way didn't have enough power to destroy a planet.
The case of this happening to a Guardian was extremely rare... though the most recent time... was when the previous Guardian of the Nether had died...
She shuddered, forcing those thoughts into the back of her mind. The Guardian of the Aether would pay sooner or later, but he wasn't here at the moment. She could swear something like that had happened to the previous world, but she just couldn't remember who and what exactly happened.
She stepped into the dark cavern, her ethereal form flickering as she entered. She was almost transparent, and thus didn't need to be changed into a set of runes. That was why the phoenix had only established a mental link with her. It was interesting. Was that mental link able to let the phoenix read into her thoughts?
She moved forward with the group, into the cave, to discover who was behind the darkening of the sky, and maybe find out answers to the questions that circled in her mind. For now, while they walked through the dark and slimy cave, she decided that maybe she could find out more about these Guardians and what they know. She smiled.
"You know, who do you think we'll find in this cave? The Guardian of Fear? The Guardian of Darkness? Oh, maybe even the Guardian of Bad Puns! The possibilities..."
