As she started to slumber, she found herself in her domain in it's full glory; fire all around, massive pools of lava, dark spirits floating around, glaring at each other. She felt at home. This wasn't the current Nether; it had excessive amounts of fire and lava all around that would not normally appear in her dimension. Wait... It was only like this when...
The memory faded to black, and another one appeared. No. She didn't want to relive this! She hated this time so much, she wanted to forget it! But... some part of her clung tightly to it, waiting for the day she would be able to be free. Free from this chain of memories.
She floated above a cliff and saw herself on a high ledge overlooking a large part of the Nether, which looked just like the Nether in the previous memory except without the excessive flames, where she and two other figures sat. Her legs were dangling off the edge, and she noted how solid she looked in the Nether. This was her secret spot in a previous world. She knew it well. The other two...
Their voices were muffled, but she could recognize laughter and friendly chatter. She looked to the right of where her past self sat, and saw a familiar smiling face sitting next to her, who seemed to be teasing someone. The face was that of Aether, a small girl who looked slightly older than Remillia was ((and currently is)), but with long white hair that fell almost all the way down her back and brilliant blue eyes. She wore a sky blue dress white gradually become a darker blue near the bottom of the dress. The dress was much longer than Remillia's own dress, though it had the same white frills around the edges. Shimmering white wings hung out from Aether's back. Aether's name... no, she needed to forget it at all costs. She averted her vision, looking to her the left of where her past self sat and instead at another face, laughing and enjoying the joke.
To the left of where her past self sat was girl about the same age as Remillia with light green eyes, slightly covered by long, dark brown hair. The girl had a grey, hooded cloak with pockets, and it was a little bit too big for her at this moment. The girl, Corruption, was a little younger than her current self. Speaking of herself, she looked at her past self, laughing madly and looking embarrassed. She looked the exact same, with only one thing different. Her eyes.
They were entirely orange ((her current eyes are red that gradually turns orange near the bottom)), bright with happiness, not knowing of the future. A small part of her current self squirmed against the rest of herself at this sight, but quickly stopped, knowing it was useless. The voices started to become clearer.
"...And the best part was Remillia's expression! You should've seen the look on her face as I told her that! She looked like an octopus that was--"
"S-Shut up!"
"--stretched so much that it's eyes looked just about to pop out!"
"S-SHUT UP!" Her past self yelled between fits of laughter, almost falling off the edge. They all took a moment, trying to stop laughing. Her current self couldn't help but smile at this memory.
After a few moments, Corruption spoke up, smiling. "You guys are actually sort of nice. Maybe... we could all be close friends? I haven't really had a friend before..." At this, Remillia's past self smiled. "Of course! We should hang out more often, but it might be a bit troublesome to enter the portal every time... hmm..." She looked like she was in thought for a moment, and then she smiled even wider. Her past self closed her eyes for a moment, and then held one of her hands out in front of her, something appearing with a burst of magic in her hand An orange and red gem. Her face turned to Corruption. "Here! It's for you. It teleports you here whenever you want, but if you use it too much it'll run out of charges!" She said cheerfully, handing it to Corruption, who looked surprised. "T-Thank you!" Corruption said, stuffing the gem inside one of her pockets.
A moment of silence passed, and then Aether decided to talk. "I need to go back to my realm. We've had a lot of guests lately, and I need to treat them all to a feast!" She said cheerfully, standing up and stretching her wings. "Awww. See ya!" Remillia said, also standing up and waving as Aether left. "I think I'll be going to take a nap now. I'm tired." Remillia says, and Corruption smiles. "Alright. Bye, then."
Remillia walks away, her smile becoming slightly troubled. What if this girl steals my best friend? What is she the Guardian of? What if Aether betrays me?Her thoughts say. In her moment of doubt, she was vulnerable. The past Guardian of the Nether didn't notice something small attach and fade into her. And one day, the Guardian would pay that ignorance.
Blood stained her clothes, hair, and face, as demons savagely attacked surprised, angelic spirits. All they needed to do was to slay the Guardian of the Aether. That was all, and she would control both the Aether and the Nether. She was now in front of that Guardian, who was yelling in surprise and betrayal. All she needed to do was kill the annoying Guardian.
A part of her was stopping her. Her daggers wouldn't move any closer.
'You are not me! Those thoughts... They were never mine!' Remillia screamed to herself in her thoughts, squirming in vain to regain control. Suddenly, she felt excruciating pain in her head, and with a shriek, fell unconscious, but not before hearing one thing.
'You're more bothersome than I thought.'
