I had some of my best laughs on ZS, and I enjoyed playing, interacting, and joking with the staff *cough* *cough* the last one was about a certain HypeBurst and fredmandood *cough* *cough*

Best of luck to you all. I'm very sad to see this happen, but I think that all of us knew, deep down inside, it would happen eventually.

As Tupac so bluntly puts it: “You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened... or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the f*** on.”
“Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”- Dr. Suess
“You'll never find a rainbow if you're looking down”- Charlie Chaplin

AND DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME I WENT OVERBOARD :p
I think it is time for us to look for positives, and move on. Best of luck to everyone!

P.S. If anybody would like some cool Classic servers to join, P.M. me.

Forgive me for expressing an unusual opinion here, but it's about time.

I have (had) as much love for the Classic servers as everyone here - but you have to put the nostalgia goggles down. Classic really doesn't hold up well anymore. It's outdated and outmatched by the "current" vision of Minecraft, both visually and functionally. It was long past its prime; this was a mercy kill.

Like many of you, the Classic servers were my gateway into both Blocktopia and Minecraft as a whole - I might even be a wholly different person if I hadn't decided to join the Lava Server on a whim four years ago. This is a sad event, but the good eclipses the bad.

Cheer up - we've got a bright future ahead of us. Our premium servers are looking better than ever and we're developing in many directions.

Maybe we'll even start handing out pendant keychains.

Right, deleting my other 2 posts and combining them / going to go on a bit more.

I still remember being bored one day and reading a review of Minecraft, and the reviewer saying how awesome it was and talking about surviving zombies. Sounds fun, I though. Made a account and after tooling with it for a day or two I found [Blocktopia] Zombie Survival. It became the main game I played after a few months, and I still remember making my application in April/May/June 2012 (forget which) and getting accepted on trial. What a fun few months that was! It taught me so much and I will forever be grateful to the people who referenced me and for all of the controllers/HA's who accepted me. And beyond that, all of the people I played with and loved chatting with and still do today... Jack, Dumbo, notty, gassy, Lily, Chill, John, Avant and many, many, many, MANY MANY MANY more people that could lead to me taking up this entire thread with people. Thanks to all who made it awesome and for keeping it awesome for all these years.

I'm one of (I think?)many here who started in the community from one of the Classic servers, Lava Survival for me personally. I'd started playing not too long after hearing about the game from a sort-of friend (who had the full version, this was back in like 2011 I think?). I met a lot of people there and made some great friends. Pretty soon I became a regular and decided to join the forums. I tried out TNT and Zombie (I think at least one of them was a bit before coming to the forums), and while all of the Classic servers were really great and fun, Lava had me coming back the most to chat and build with all the awesome people I'd quickly grown to like (and I would like to think that the fondness was mutual, but I was annoying as hell then (and still kind of am now) so I wouldn't be terribly offended if that wasn't the case). Soon after getting premium, though, I was on far less frequently. For a while I still visited once in a while, but that didn't last too long, and then it'd go to weeks/months at a time between visits (and most of the time there'd be no one that I knew to talk to so I'd just leave :<).
But long ramble of my times on the Classic servers aside, it's sad to see them go; they'll always hold a special place in my heart as being the springs that sprung me into the community, which has continued to grow immensely since I first landed here. I have and will continue to cherish all the wonderful memories and fun times I've had with all of you wonderful people. So, a big thank-you from me (and I'm sure everyone else) to every single player and staff member for making the servers as great as they were. It's sad to see them go, but I suppose all good things must come to an end eventually.

Damnit...
As with most of you, classic was the gateway into this great community.
I came in contact with this community when I joined the lava server sometime in 2010 with my brother.
It was only slightly after this that I came in contact with the ZS server.
From then on, I had spent a crapload of hours, even full days at time on this server. If it were not for the community that came with these servers, the gameplay probably would never have made me stay for as long as I have.
These servers ARE a part of MC heritage. Their significance as the first few gaming servers have spawned dozens upon dozens of countless copies of the same game. The closing of these servers is not only a stepping stone out of the era of old for this community, but for all of MC.
And we are the ones to truly appreciate its value.

Thank you blocktopia, you were one of my first classic multiplayer servers that i ever saw. Unfortunately i was never able to get enough references to go to staff ranks, tho i had one from JWB.

I want to thank all of those that i got a lot contact with, especially Airkid, mariosatr, nottycat, JWB, JtTorso, IntenSik (Maybe best zombie player ever) , Vatumok, OneOneTwo, Katzen, LetterP, Snowma, One_Survivor, gassy_europeon, davidjl123, Mr_Lucky and many many more.
I would also thank Blocktopia in general, you are the reason why i started my own server, let me tell you a story about that:

I once started to play Minecraft classic as pspiscool, first i had only single player, then i discovered the great possibilities of multiplayer. One of the first servers i have ever visited was Blocktopia Zombie Survival, because i would not like to build that much back then. I convinced a friend of mine (Duestergott) to play with me and we used to play ZS ALOT, i also played tnt a bit but zombie was just more exciting for me. I would say i was a pretty good player but i got disconnected a lot (because i had crap internet) and the server was full all the time. So i was not able to join most of the times. Now i moved into a new house got my 20Mb/s internet connection, but the server was still full most of the time. I created a freebuild server so i can build a map for zombie and got a lot help with it from several members, one of the maps you might know: "mall/shopping_center" "koropinia" "oasis" "sewers" etc... but freebuild was not enough, because i got bored, so i decided to write a simple script with MCStorm (only software after MCLawl that i knew back then) to train for Blocktopia (jumps etc), it all failed after a while and i got back to play BT again. I did not like my username really much so i decided to switch to void_public, since i have not bought premium and it would not matter. Still it was very hard to connect to the server because it was the only one of its kind and so i decided to rerun my try on creating a new server so people can play everytime they want and especially for my reallife friends. It turned out that my server got more and more popular and so i decided to make it 24/7 after it was only on for like 4h a day. I stopped playing Minecraft at all because i had to make my graduation and got a lot of reallife stuff going on. Then one day i had ALOT spare time again and thought why not give it a try and put up the server, with a new name. I am not sure if i may post the name here right now, because it might be seen as advertise which is forbitten, so i am not going to. Anyways this is how my own zombie survival "career" started, all thanks to the full servers =)

Here is one of the oldest screenshot that i can find right now: 10/29/11 has been a while, i got older ones which i cannot find right now:
after all i gotta say, thank you blocktopia for being there, thank you for getting me into the world of minecraft, thank you for all the friendships that i have made and for the people that i got to know. All of your staff members are very welcome on my server everytime, thank you so much !
It is the end of a

best regards

Number of seconds on lava:

Number of houses built:

Number of cookies earned in total:

Number of scookies earned in total:

I had to check all my logs to get that information...

If you think that it's impossible for me to have earned 2 scookies because I have none at the moment, those two randomly disappeared for no reason, so I never got to use them.

Even though this may be a sad time for the classic servers. It is great to see old friends that I have not seen on the classic servers for I'm sure close to a year! It is truly amazing how close of friendships you form through games or even this wonderful community! So I say hold your heads up, get on a classic server, and see if you run into some old friends like I did today :)
