Right, uh, sorry for dropping off the face of the Earth like that, but the year ending kinda fucked me over school-wise, so I had to deal with that and then I was just altogether too tired to make an effort here. But I'm back now and I hope I can stay that way for now.

So, starting off with the thing I started this day off, I'll bring a close to the whole deal with Vatu's win condition on my end. I think he managed to sufficiently explain the whole win condition confusion, even if the explanation is somewhat peculiar. I can kind of see where he was coming from, although I still don't understand why he felt the need to consistently address himself as a potential zombie as well as a townie. It's true, of course, anyone could be a zombie, but personally I don't consider a possible win condition to be winning with the zombies. I'll think about that if I get zombiefied, so thinking about it now seems redundant and a little too considerate towards the possibility of being infected.

But that's just me. Different people have different ways of working things out for them, and if Vatu wants to think about every possibility, that's fine. Just based on this whole thing alone I don't think we can pass any judgement on him.

Another peculiar thing that caught my interest right at the beginning of the day was the Vatu-Ltin standoff, the one where Vatu kind of just dropped this:
Yes, from my inn conversation it got very clear to me that Ltin is not town. Notty was agreeing with me. Ltin had a slip where he said that he thinks Notty and I are both bad and if he's still good after the night he'll trust is more, which is a pointless statement meaning it was probably said just to look more innocent. After that I gave him the chance to prove to me he's town by asking him who he thinks the anti-town roles are. He refused to say anything about that but me for zombie, which is not helpful at all.
and then did nothing about it. The way I see it from this is that for whatever unknown reason, Ltin thought that both Vatu and Notty were in zombies with each other and figured he was going to be next, again for whatever unknown reason. This is supported in my opinion by this:
The fact that notty did not die a zombie kinda makes me believe vat isn't zombie leader anymore.
While I cannot begin to understand why Ltin thought those things, I also don't see how this proves Ltin to be anything other than just paranoid. One interesting thing I did note, however, was the fact that Vatu claimed Notty agreed with his accusations in the inn and dared Ltin to confirm that, since Notty is now a confirmed townie. Ltin never did, and the whole standoff situation just kind of died out when I started prodding Vatu about his win condition. It makes me wonder just a little bit why Ltin never confirmed that (if he did, then I'm just blind and you can call me stupid).

The third thing that I wanted to point at was Mars' "slip", the one where he said the other mafia members had been relatively quiet and under the radar up until him saying they'd been quiet. When I look at it right now, it does still look like a slip to me, but more in the sense of "I'm mafia, why would I not lurk the way so many other mafiosi in many other games have", so I'm not entirely sure if we can deduce the identity of the other mafiosi just by looking at who's been lurking. Still, it's not a completely baseless tactic to use right now, so we can't rule it out completely.

Regarding the inn theory, which Inffy so gloriously rushed forward and then retracted as soon as he figured out that not everything in this game was according to his own deductions, I can only repeat other players in saying that I don't see much merit in it. Relying on inns to make a lynch has been very unreliable in the past, except for (I think) the first game in Blocktopia where the inns were used, GmK's Doomed Cruise. I don't see any reason for Samlen to use a simple pattern in the inns, especially since such a pattern could easily be exploited by the zombies. But since we're not really talking about that any more anyhow, then that's just a late comment on my part.

Moving on to opinions about people. When I look at the list of living players, the ones that immediately stand out to me as lurkers or inactive players are Jk, Fali and Geek. I don't suspect Fali of anything, mostly because she has been acting exactly the way I figured she would. Roleplaying, friendlyness and undecidedness are kind of her thing and she's been doing the first, while the second hampers the ability to scumhunt and the third doesn't really translate well into activity in a mafia game. Plus, I still feel like Mars was trying to set her up for a possible lynch later in the game and considering Mars flipped mafia, I sincerely doubt she could be mafia, which kind of narrows the possibilities for being scum down a bit.

Geek has barely said anything and Rune said even less, so I have been unable to formulate an opinion on her. Rune stated pretty clearly that the reason for his inactivity was due to personal reasons, so I don't think we can read much into his inactivity and while I don't know the reasons why Geek is staying quiet, too, and would like for her to speak up more, then it mostly feels to me like she doesn't have anything to say, not that she doesn't want to.

Jk is an interesting case. Considering past games, one would think he would be more active, and I see that other players seem to think so too, but I'm not so sure if that translates into him being scum. In the past games, I sort of remember Jk as a fairly active player even if he was scum (I can't really be bothered to check right now if that really is the case, but I trust my memory enough right now). Jk is a player whose strongest weapon, regardless of role, is his ability to make a very convincing argument and he has used that ability to its full extent as both a townie and scum, as far as I know. Keeping that in mind, it seems somewhat off for him to just lurk as he has largely done in this game. He's not as inactive as Fali and Rune/Geek, perhaps, but he's not really active either.

When he does say something, though, it's still as thought out and relevant as ever, not the kind of active lurking that I noticed in Mars. Of his nine posts in the game, four have moved the discussion forward, two were afterthoughts or corrections to posts he just made and three were joke posts at the beginning of the game. It feels like it's not that he wants to stay low, it's more like he just isn't that interested in how the game goes. If there's ever a role that makes experienced and typically active players feel like that, it's a role that puts much of the fate of the player into someone else's hands and doesn't really give any cool actions for them to play with, such as the villager. Now, we don't have a villager in the game right now, and even if we did and Jk was that, I'd still think that he would be more active. But we do have a Lone Survivor, a role that is quite literally dependent on someone else winning, a role that as far as we know doesn't have any interesting features to it (and if there are interesting features, they might be hidden from the player playing that role as well, as stated by Samlen). This is a role that I think would make Jk act the way he's been acting so far and when I did some digging, I found that Jk seems to subtly try and prevent the survivor from being attacked or perceived as a threat as well. Consider the following (interesting parts bolded):
And on top of that, it is interesting that the two third-party roles outside of the Zombie faction have win conditions relying on surviving until the end of the game, winning with whoever takes the thing.
Namely because I feel like, unless they had hidden abilities (if they even have abilities at all, I'm thinking of the survivor when I say that) that correlate with the Zombie faction, and they get infected and converted into said faction, then they couldn't really do anything to further their own ability to win.
And since we're just theorizing at this point, I feel like both Oracle and Lonely Survivor must have at least some kind of ability or modifier involving the zombies in some way, or at least can affect all factions.

Like the oracle can reveal the alignment of a person who visits them(+cant be infected), or the Lonely survivor can't be infected or killed at night, only lynched.
Something like that.

I don't know. I might be pushing on the "cant be infected" shtick too much but it would just feel off for there not to be some defensive modifier for such a weak position to win (town/mafia/zombies all at least can have other players pick up the slack if one person dies; those 2 third parties have only themselves).
He's making it sound like he's theorising about the third party roles, but he's being fairly friendly towards the survivor and putting forward a theory which would make the survivor honestly pretty useful for the town. The way he says "if they even have abilities at all, I'm thinking of the survivor when I say that", makes me think that he is the survivor and doesn't know if he has any particular abilities, which would imply that his abilities are hidden from himself as well, if he even has any.

All in all, I think Jk is the Lone Survivor who's trying to not make himself a threat. That would also mean that every other player is either a townie or a scum, since the Oracle is dead.

I personally trust Tim right now, and Inffy as well, to a degree. Tim has been nothing but his usual calm self and hasn't really given me any reason to suspect him and Inffy just feels like he's a hyperactive townie who wants to get the game going and is grasping at anything that comes to his mind. Which is not a bad thing in itself, it just leads to the weird stuff such as the inn theory he had.

I'm not sure about Vatumok. On one hand, he's been saying confusing stuff right from the beginning of the game and the way he started this game off just confused me even further. Then again, simply being confusing to me isn't really worth a suspicion, so there's not much I can say about him. Every suspicion I've had on him has been explained away by him and so I don't really have much to go on.

Ooglie and Ltin have also been their usual selves in my opinion, nothing really stands out about them to me at a first glance.

The person I have the most problem with right now is Dessern.

Dessern seems to favour the same kind of active lurking that Mars did. He also defended Mars at first, later blaming it on a misunderstanding about the core of our suspicions. When it was pretty clear Mars was going to get lynched, he switched his vote.

These three things are the reasons I'm suspicious of him. Firstly, the active lurking. I explained this enough when I made the case for Mars to be lynched, so I don't think I have to do it again. Secondly, the way he defended Mars at first. The fact that he did it in the first place is enough to make me a little less trusting of him, considering Mars flipped scum, but he also tried to do it by using a strawman to misrepresent Tim's little tidbit about the slip as the core of both of our arguments against Mars, while ignoring pretty much the entire actual discussion we had going on at the time. Now, I can understand that sometimes people misunderstand arguments and Tim pointed out that the slip was very much not the only reason we were lynching Mars, and Dess accepted that, but still tried to represent the slip as the "pushing factor", in order to better defend Mars. I don't know about you guys, but this has my scumradar pointing pretty heavily towards Dess. Add to that the fact that once Mars being lynched was inevitable, he gave in without much reasoning and switched his vote to Mars, which is something that scum tends to do when confronted with the reality of their teammate being the one that's being lynched.

As it is, I can't really find a more fitting person to drop my vote on than Dess, so I'll do just that.

Dessern5 what's your opinion/who do you have suspicion on?
Apologies for being much less active recently, got swamped with stuff in real life.

Anyways,

Currently who I find the most suspicious (in order) is...

Infected - This is mostly due to the inn theory, which while we all could have guessed that it was false how quickly he dismissed it after finding out ooglie and I are in ender's inn make me a bit suspicious. To me it read as if he knew it was false from the beginning and just wanted confirmation to know who was in the inns.

Vatu - Now I know I had defended him earlier with the whole zombie thing but it does vibe anti-town still. While I do agree with some of what was said (if you can't win town why not win zombie), they way it was phrased and brought up just seems fishy to me.

Ltin - This I can't really explain, it's just a feeling to me.

And as far as the vote on Mars goes,

If you guys have played any mafia games me with in the past you know that my vote tends to sway quite a bit especially with other posts that were made. I still feel like the root of what was pushing for the vote on mars was his slip up saying that mafia have lurked around in the past HOWEVER I did end up seeing the validity of what the argument against him.

Addressing this,

My inactivity has been due to school for me. I was in 18 credits this semester so I got swamped last week and then work swamped me this week but I've been trying to maintain my activity just not have fully been able to.

Secondly, my vote on Mars did flip, and I didn't give the full reasoning behind it because I was at that point just trying to speed the day along, I saw the validity of the argument and ended up casting a vote on him.

My vote on him was in now way because it was inevitable, if it was inevitable I could have very well left my vote off of him, but iirc we still had two irl days before Day 1 ended so I was trying to speed it along and keep the game moving.

I can understand this.
If anyone recalls, last game the one and only vote I placed was to end a day. [Irrelevant: Not because I didn't want to appear opinionated, I simply wasn't. I was also kind of looking for a way to work not being able to vote into my claim, but that never happened.]

This is true. I really want to say something but I'm not really suspicious of anyone at this moment, I can't exactly mount suspicion on someone if I don't know what could back up my theory.

So it looks like the candidates for lynching are Ltin for a reason, Vatumok for some other reason, Dess for defending mars then switching, or some random inactive because of Mars' thing about lurking like the other mafia?

From what I can gather on the Ltin vs Vatu situation, it appears to me that one of them is probably mafia trying to get the other one lynched? But tin doesn't seem to really be attacking Vatu (or maybe I'm misremembering things, I do that.), he's recently been primarily defending himself. That might not even be true, it's the holiday and I'm too busy to do my research.
As for Vatu, the main argument against him seems to be because he propsed the possibility of his inn winning as zombies. Which...I can't really fault him for. I mean, there's nothing wrong with having a contingency plan in place for the likely scenario in which one of them becomes infected.

The arguement against Dess seems sound enough, but so does the response. I'm leaning toward Dess being scum, but I'm not entirely certain where I stand on this one.

As for lynching some random inactive, let's look at who we've got here:
Mulbery - So quiet I had to double check if he was still alive. I can't remember a single things he's said. A quick search reveals that his second and most recent post was 3 weeks ago, on page 6. I'd advocate a policy lynch if nothing else.

Oak - Again, very quiet. 4 non-day 0 Posts. The first two were posted at the same time, basically just answering Ender's general game concept questions that he posed to everyone. The other two were just going along with the "Mars, if you can't even claim I'm really not going to believe you." If I had to wager I'd bet that he's the suicide bomber. Because it feels sort of like a bus, but without the knowledge. And since the Suicide Bomber doesn't attend the mafia meetings, it seems to fit the bill.

Faliara - I don't find her quietness really at all suspicious because that's just how she is.
Geek - Falls into the same general category (even if not quite the same).

JKangaroo - Normally he would find his way onto this list, but usually he's much more active than he is. It's not that he's not contributing; I'm just...Not feeling his presence, if you get what I'm saying. It's not suspicious outright, but it does have me a bit....Wary.

So overall, I'd say my biggest suspicious falls on Oak, as I'm kind of unsure about most of the other candidates (and again, I'd totally be for a policy lynch on Mulbery). And don't forget, there is a Suicide Bomber (and I think it's Oak), we should have the second most suspicious person hammer. Which, if we can get him to show up, I would make Mulbery do it.

Well....Let's try this again.

I trust Ender. Thus far, we've had very similar views and he's been leading us in the right direction.

Ooglie and Infected have been town-telling a fair bit, even if they feel a bit non-contributory (they're not, they just feel that way to me because I'm forgetful and now frustrated).

Ltin and Vatu I feel are both fairly neutral. If I had to pick one to be evil (I feel one of them is), it'd be Vatu. One of the main reasons being the when he's town he typically takes a strong leadership role. This game he's not really done that. Also because of Ltin not really attacking him, just defending himself (sort of, as I said I could be wrong.)

Faliara and Geekenstein. My points from above still stand, however now that I've come to the realization that Oak is dead, Geek has replaced him in my head as the potential Suicide Bomb.

JKangaroo. Copy/Paste: Normally he would find his way onto this list, but usually he's much more active than he is. It's not that he's not contributing; I'm just...Not feeling his presence, if you get what I'm saying. It's not suspicious outright, but it does have me a bit....Wary.

Dess. Copy/Paste: The arguement against Dess seems sound enough, but so does the response. I'm leaning toward Dess being scum, but I'm not entirely certain where I stand on this one.

At this point I've spent much longer on this post(s) than I wanted to. Sorry for spamming the thread, I'm just an idiot, have some words that hopefully makes sense this time 'round.

To me it read as if he knew it was false from the beginning and just wanted confirmation to know who was in the inns.
Why does this make me anti-town though? For what anti-town reason would I have for knowing who's in an inn?

And no I didn't know it was false from the beginning, I just completely forgot that Mul died and that I thought he was in Ender's inn, when he wasn't and you were.

I still think you're suspicious about voting Mars. It reminds me of my first ever mafia game when me, notty and oog and maybe some others wanted to lynch 755, and then Mul suddenly posted (after being super quiet) defending 755, saying our reason was bad, but the reason they said was bad was their own made up reason and not our reason at all, which made me suspicious and then turned out they were mafia trying to protect their partner acting as if it were confusion on their part, hoping that somehow we'd just see their defence and go with it or something I guess (unless they were just genuinely confused). Obviously this is a completely different situation but it vibes as the same to me, hence my suspicion on you.

I'm still slightly suspicious of Vat but his reactions/defences have seemed pretty okay to me. I just don't understand his points, like when he was suspicious of people for voting on Day 0, claiming they were voting people who could have nearly been lynched, when they needed like 6 other votes or something for that to happen. At the time it felt like he just wanted to give opinions to look town but he said earlier he was poking me to get reactions from me or something, so maybe it was a similar thing then too. Plus last game he also made some points about suspicious behaviour that I didn't understand, and he was town, so I'm not completely convinced he's not town this time too. I did think it was slightly odd how he didn't seem to talk about the Mars situation - it was as if two different games were going on, one with Mars being poked at, the other between Vat and Ltin throwing posts back and forth. But this point also applies to ltin, who I think is town so far, so I'm not going to use that against Vat.

Anyway as it stands, my top three suspects are Dess, Vat and Geek. Geek for just not being as participatory as she was before, I understand her point about having no suspicions but there's plenty going round and I find it difficult to understand she hasn't got at least one opinion, and I just think she's holding something back from us.

With 10 alive, it takes 6 to lynch and 5 to no-lynch
samlen just needs to update living/dead list in the op tbh
Confound it all I could've sworn I did that when the day started. It's updated now >,>
I'll post it here as well (as well as pokes to make sure everyone sees this post and noone forgot about this game)
1. CaffeinatedKitty - Mad Scientist - Killed Night 1
2. Ooglie101

It's nice that the level of activity has picked up today, but I believe that a deadline is still needed, and really should have been placed awhile ago.

So there will be a deadline on December 29, 11pm GMT - One week from now
If I get enough requests for an extension, I will extend IF there is a decent amount of activity in the next week.

For the weird accusations I placed on the first day, I play by the idea that it's best to be suspicious really fast and about small things but also be able to change your mind really fast. I also like to place accusations early to test people as there can be information in their response. It wasn't an attempt to confuse or try to lynch one them, I hope that clears things up.

I don't have a lot of trust in Endersteve. He has said a lot of things I agree with, I followed him on the vote on Mars and I can see why he would vote for Dess though I'm not entirely convinced about that one. While town is already crippled, zombies want mafia more dead than regular townies, Ender could very well be a zombie looking for mafia and in the process look very trustworthy because he says good things. I also had this thought before that Inffy and Ender could both be zombies coming from the all town inn idea.

I don't think it's justifyable to lynch Ender this day but I don't want to follow him either. My vote stays on Inffy for now because of the confusing things he has said, he also seemed to push Ltin's suspicion on me a lot. My read on Ltin is probably town now, I don't really understand why he went after me for a quite a while but for the rest he looks pretty clueless, willing to change his mind and honest.

Thing is though, the things you pointed out as suspicious were just so random and didn't add up which makes me suspicious of them. You put suspicion on people for trying to sneak a lynch on someone when in reality they needed so many more votes for any of them to be lynched it just felt like such a random suspicion that it didn't seem legitimate. I can understand if you were just testing people but I don't know, I don't necessarily 100% buy into that that's all you were doing.

I don't have a lot of trust in Endersteve. Another thing you've said that I don't understand - why distrust Ender on the fact that he seems town? Anyone could be a zombie, anyone, and you seem not to be suspicious of others in the game, so why Ender? It just doesn't make sense to me. By your logic we should be suspicious of anyone who seems pro town because they're probably zombie, and the other people who seem slightly suspicious are town, but then why do they seem slightly suspicious? Yeah zombies are looking for mafia, but so are town, so how does it make sense that you're suspicious of Ender based on the fact he's scumhunting? Why zombie and not town? Also why me and Ender out of everyone here, would you think be zombies together after I made up the inn theory?

I don't think it's justifyable to lynch Ender this day but I don't want to follow him either. What confusing things did I say?
To start with, this post.

Basically your entire first paragraph is pointless. I just explained you why I put some suspicion on them and now you are like hm.. maybe you were testing them but I'm not 100% sure about it.

Your second paragraph also makes very little sense. Ender has a lot of good points to find mafia members but that doesn't make him seem town. In my post I even specifically said zombies rather have mafia dead than townies at this moment. I just don't want people to fall in a false sense of security. After that I clearly said that it's not justifyable to lynch Ender for that so I have no idea why you are being so defensive. Regarding you + Ender and the inn theory read back one of my previous posts.

Other confusing things you've said was the inn theory, talking more than necessary and other things like trying to push Ltin's suspicion on me. In general your behaviour this game seems a bit off.
