It is just a thought that popped into my head. But what if
Timdood3 made a deal with the devil, and his consequence is that he isn't allowed to communicate with us during the day? Like I would have expected even just a short post from him by now.
I did make one post today (last night) in response to inf, saying that I didn't make a deal. So wrong on both counts
But I was thinking at work last night regarding Fog and his deal.
Obviously the devil stands to gain something from making deals.
I firmly don't believe in alignment shifting, so that's ruled out as far as I'm concerned.
My original hypothesis was that when a sinner makes a deal, the devil (or the mafia in general) gets a buff out of it as well.
However, upon critical thematic analysis (words I never thought I'd say) that kind of falls apart.
When two people make a deal, they give each other something. In this case, the devil gives the sinner a night action. But what does the sinner give the devil? The sinner has no night action to offer. The obvious answer is "thier soul," but what does that mean in the context of this game?
I don't think it means death. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but traditionally isn't someone who's made a deal with the devil allowed to live the rest of their life before joining the devil in hell? Obviously nothing stops the devil from killing them prematurely, but that's neither here nor there.
This could be support for a form of Aqua's "eliminate sinners" theory as a wincon, but if the goal is to kill sinners after they've made a deal, why would he reject one? Much less a mail deal. Imo mail is the worst option we have to choose from.
The only reasonable conclusion is that whatever the devil would've gotten out of fog's deal, they didn't value it at all.
But I want to hear more about Fog's night chat. You know who you were talking to, right? It wasn't anonymous? And was it a one night thing or do you still/will you continue to have access to it?
