JKangaroo - I'll say it again, like last game: -snip for length-
I never said anything about trusting the roles stated on various wiki's/websites, because that would really be silly. The fact of the matter is that it was Hype who stated it was an arsonist (how, I don't know), and it required me to look up a brief description as I did not know what such a role was. "Dousing in gasoline" sounds like an arsonist, but could well be a modified variant, which is likely considering the circumstances. However, Prizyms did say the the roles
may be widely different, which could mean they are modified, or they are roles not commonly seen in forum Mafia's, and are also
scary powerful (In Prizyms words).
Although yes, we can't guarantee that any of these roles are proven, we can keep an open mind on them have at least some idea of what they
might do, which is helpful with roles from wiki's and other sites (which are the most likely cases for inspiration for at least a few roles)
I'm trying to keep all possibilities in mind.
I think the item discussion is a bit blown out of proportion.
Personally, if the item is/seems quite important or has an interesting effect, then it is probably best that they keep it to themselves as a lot of items aren't as beneficial should they be made known: they essentially loose effectiveness (like a bulletproof vest, that shouldn't really be made known because it essentially sways night-kills away from these people who may not actually be "good," but is protected simply due to the fact they have it the vest. But of course, this is only assuming bullet-proof town roles and if only anti-town were given some kind of vest, or if there were even any vests given out) Items are announced when they need to be, we don't have to go item-hunting, it seems like a waste of time.
Jivvi kind of also blew it out of proportion with Fiesta, whom, in my opinion, basically just said the same thing except with more words, and more "options" (which a player, should they announce their item, probably would've gone along the lines of "I have an item/don't want to disclose/etc" anyways. Feel like its just trying to make a target of Fiesta and put suspicion on him imo, like they did with the Vigilante "policy vote" yesterday. (very silly in my opinion)
I do have a question though:
Actually it would be helpful to know if any items are in play at all. Since this is a very role-specific setup, I have my doubts. Regardless~
I guess the assumption is obvious: what is a closed set-up game probably is based around roles (as is any Mafia game), but why role specific? How do you know that it is? I would say you wouldn't exactly know, because we have no idea if there are more items in play or that multiple roles could occur.
Honestly, I feel like I'm just blowing this out of proportion, but I'm always skeptical whenever someone makes a "concrete statement" about something in a closed set-up game unless specifically said by the host (like with Oak where Prizy basically said the Pirates didn't know who each other was through story, so I'm not entirely convinced on the Oak vote based on this "concrete statement" idea)
Following that "concrete statement" idea, I also recall Oak and Jivvi both believing there is a Janitor role this time around, which is curious. It wouldn't have been my first thought certainly, so I'm curious as to why they believe a Janitor is present in this game. (I mean, obviously it's just an assumption, I just thought it was weird that they both thought it)
(also note that since I can't find the posts themselves due to slow page loading/some pages just don't load correctly due to my current Internet connection, it might not have been Jivvi who said that; I'm only going off memory here, but I know Oak said that earlier, juts unsure about jivvi)
